THE FIRST SETTLERS TO EL ARISH
There were some early Pioneers to the area engaged in logging and growing bananas. These early pioneers and the farming families all helped to build this region.
Fred King was one of the farmers that was already here at the outbreak of the “Great War” and after being demobbed he returned to the region to continue to build his farm at Jaffa.
The major wave of Settlers came as the area then known as “The Maria Creek Settlement” was set up for Returned Soldiers from WW1.
The next wave came after WW2 with a rich mixture of migrants from Italy, Malta, Yugoslavia, China and many other places.
